Everyone has a person in his or her life who has been affected by heart disease. But despite the amount of education we receive, many of us still think it can never happen to us. The truth is it can, which is why A Modern Tea is so important.

Like all diseases, heart disease doesn’t just affect us on a physical level – the pain and suffering can also take its toll on our emotional and mental states. We recognize that people often learn healthy habits by practicing them. That’s why A Modern Tea offers aerobic exercise in the form of line dancing; relaxation and stress relief through hand and back massage, and Reiki; a tea tasting workshop wherein we’ll discuss the detoxifying effects of antioxidants found in teas; and our popular wine tasting workshop featuring organic, bio-organic and green wines.

We also know that looking great helps us to feel great. That’s why we’ve expanded our beauty offerings in 2011 to include skincare consultations, dry hairstyling and hair care tips, in addition to the makeup applications and undergarment fittings we’ve offered in the past. And please make sure you check out our Fashion Showcase page to see a list of our 2011 partners who will each feature various styles throughout the day.

We hope that you will leave A Modern Tea with a greater sense of the warning signs for heart disease, and the steps you can adopt and share with someone who you care about. Please use this event as a conversation starter. Have a heart-to-heart talk with someone you care about, someone who needs to know. Because even though heart disease is a silent killer, it doesn’t mean we have to be quiet about it.
